PATH is a global team of innovators working to accelerate health equity in more than 70 countries. One of its initiatives raises awareness about the prevention and treatment of diarrheal disease (DD), the second-leading deadly disease for children under five. PATH turned to NJI Media to develop illustrations, animations, and a new website to help address this crisis.
Most of us rarely think twice about our toilets, but did you know that nearly 3.6 billion people live without access to safely managed sanitation? That’s why we are proud to work with PATH’s DefeatDD team to celebrate World Toilet Day, a UN observance recognized every November 19. To honor this year’s theme of “Untapped: climate-resilient sanitation,” NJI created assets about the connection between climate change and DD, as well as potential solutions to mitigate these challenges.
Protecting children from DD starts with prevention and treatment. Since 2019, NJI has worked with PATH to advance its DefeatDD initiative. These templates, graphics, GIFs, and video treatments are featured across DefeatDD’s social media and on its dedicated campaign page. Extending awareness of DD helps to ensure that children have global access to clean water, allowing for healthier and longer lives.
Together with PATH, we want to “reimagine the toilet” and fulfill the goal of sustainable sanitation.
