Learn at Lunch: A Photo Essay

At NJI, we are constantly working to improve and streamline our internal processes.  A few months back, a few NJI team members attended the An Event Apart Conference in scenic Tyson’s Corner, Virginia to gain insight from industry heavyweights including Jeffrey Zeldman, Jonathan Hoefler, Daniel Mall and Kevin Hoffman.

We spent two days absorbing talks from lots of engaging speakers, and couldn’t wait to come back and share some new strategies and processes with the team.  Many thanks to Alex Sailer for documenting the event.

1We’re not sure if it was the tasty lunch or the conference recap that kept the team engaged, but a well-fed team is an attentive team.

2This is Marie’s “impress me with new knowledge” face – we like to think that we did.

8Our recent addition to the team, Hamilton Porter, was more interested in trying to eat shoelaces than learning about web design, but we’ll cut him some slack.  It’s our fault for wearing tasty shoes.

4Drew expertly offered some tips for designing productive meetings.  A few of us were briefly distracted by the aforementioned pup mischief under the table.

3I shared some thoughts on keeping processes moving and maintaining a productive dialogue with the client throughout a project.

5This one might be my favorite.  Phill articulated strategies for managing client expectations with an excellent hot dog metaphor.  He’ll be giving the next Learn at Lunch, tentatively titled “The Art of Condiments.”

10The team of presenters are all really photogenic.
