Nothing Sketchy about this UX Powerhouse

If you’ve not heard of Sketch, where have you been? Long gone are the days of pixel-pushing in Photoshop (painful memories for us all) to achieve UX/UI solutions, and in the absence of a better solution in Adobe’s wheelhouse came an opportunity for a new kid on the block —Sketch.

Sketch launched in 2010 and fast became the go-to app for a majority of digital designers. The “Why?” was easy to answer. It had a simple and intuitive interface, but what’s really embedded it in our community was its expansive number of plugins, complete toolkit functionality, and frequent updates.

It wasn’t until 2016, that Adobe introduced its answer to Sketch in the form of XD. Undoubtedly a serious contender, and won back many professionals, especially with it being included in Creative Clouds subscription plan. However, with more than ten years of development, a vast user base and an ever-growing plugin ecosystem we still champion Sketch as our tool of choice.

Our 5 Reasons to Stick With Sketch

#1 Cloud Inspect (beta)

New feature | https://www.sketch.com/docs/sketch-cloud/

Cloud Inspector makes it easy for your dev team to get the information they need to turn your design into code. All the magic happens in the browser and it’s free! It’s another great collaboration tool from Sketch.

#2 Sketch for Teams (beta)

New feature (Free trial available) | sketch.com/for-teams/

Launching in 2019, Sketch for Teams paved the way for greater collaboration across organizations. This allowed us to bring the right people into the design process at the right time, keeping all involved on the same page.

#3 Get Stark

Free plugin | getstark.co

Your content should never fall prey to poor design decisions or over designing your elements. This powerful tool allows your content to shine through with smarter color choices, colorblind simulation and contrast checkers.

#4 Craft

Free plugin | invisionapp.com/craft

Craft does a lot more than sync your .sketch designs with the InVision web app. In fact, most of Craft’s features can be used without having an InVision subscription at all. Craft supercharges your design workflow by letting you build your design with realistic data and images, rapidly tile objects horizontally and vertically, and create libraries of styles and assets that can be stored in the cloud, shared between your team and accessed at any time

#5 Rename it

Free plugin | renameit.design/sketch/

File management is vital when collaborating in our studio, so there’s nothing quite as important as good ‘house-keeping’. This light-weight plugin keeps your Sketch files organized, batch rename layers and artboards.
