Brunch

Every day at NJI Media, we’re steeped in design, code and strategy. But we get hungry. And although, yes we are hungry to make the web better using these three tools, our team can’t survive on design, code and strategy alone. We can, however, survive on pancakes. And bacon. And brunch.

Our Creative team put their pencils down and picked up their frying pans to whip up a mouthwatering brunch for the whole NJI warehouse. The day before, they sent out this menu to the whole crew without much commentary, except that if we didn’t like the food we could eat jelly beans.

Spoiler alert: no one ate jelly beans. The other NJI folks were impressed (and in some cases relieved) with the Creative team’s cooking skills.

It was a damn good brunch.

This featured not one but two secret family recipes in their impressive lineup:

SCRAMBLED EGGSfarm fresh eggs mixed with cheddar, cream cheese and a touch of garlic powder
THICK CUT BACON center cut slices of bacon cooked to perfection with just the right amount of crisp
BUTTERMILK BISCUITS – tender, flaky old-fashioned biscuits flavored with buttermilk
HASHBROWN CASSEROLE  – Cheesy and delicious, this hashbrown casserole with a crunchy topping to die for
‘SHORTSTACK’ PANCAKES – fluffy buttermilk pancakes topped with your choice of the finest maple syrups
GARLIC CHEESE GRITS – Plunkett Family Recipe – true southern style grits combined with cheddar cheese and garlic
SAUSAGE GRAVY – Sailer Family Recipe – a traditional spicy sausage milk based gravy sparked with a hint of fresh coffee

Our designers lived up to the high quality standard featured every day in our client work, and took care to present brunch in a way that risked outshining the food. They created hand-drawn illustrations, placards, two official event posters, and a custom menu, inspired by classic pen and ink drawings.

NJI Media won’t be converting to a restaurant anytime soon, but just know that we’ve got the space and the chops to prove we could, if we wanted.
