Top Ten Online Branding Guidelines

The web has evolved into the most important marketing medium in history. However, many organizations continue to place less importance on the expansion and curation of their brands online. Online branding should be just as well conceived as any other communication or marketing initiative. Regardless of how small or large an organization is, traditional website and social media branding should be paramount to any communications initiative. Successfully expanding a brand online takes time, creativity, and patience. Attention should be focused not only on increasing brand recognition, but also on building a community through interactivity. An organizations’s online branding initiatives should […]

We Imagined Ourselves Better Bowlers. We Were Wrong.

Last week the NJI Media team took a field trip to the bowling alley. After one game, it was clear that none of us had bowled in a very long time. And after game two, it was confirmed that none of us should quit our day job. The winning team, Team Comrade, was comprised of Natasha, Josh, Brendan and Derek. Team Plaid and Team Whatevs did not fare so well. To protect the innocent, scores will not be posted online. Next time we’re using bumpers. Derek, Alex and Ryan line up to bowl. Nobody got a strike. Thanks to the […]

Totes Amazeballs: Twitter Strategy Done Right

Totes Amazeballs: is it a dream cereal – a combination of Rocky Road cake, Coco Pops Rocks, marshmallows, shortbread pieces and raisins – or dream online social media strategy? What about both? Kellogg’s in the United Kingdom recently released one edition of Totes Amazeballs cereal in response to prolific Tweeter and musician Tim Burgess’s tweet. Merely suggesting a cereal named after the slangy phrase in one tweet, Burgess was shocked when Kellogg’s went the extra mile and made the man his cereal. As global companies navigate the sometimes choppy waters of social media, certain organizations flail [McDonald’s “stories” comes to […]

Not Lovin' It: A Cautionary Tale of A Twitter Campaign Gone Wrong

Last week, McDonald’s embarked on what seemed to be a surefire Twitter hashtag campaign. The fast food leader set out to promote two hashtags: #MeetTheFarmers and #McDstories. The latter asked users across the globe to tweet their favorite memories of the eatery. The vague hashtag created a social media melee. Twitterers used the hashtag to describe their memories, alright. Effectively turning the hashtag into a bashtag, users described their least appetizing memories, describing hairs in food, food poisoning, animal cruelty – you name it.         Photos courtesy of Business Insider McDonald’s responded by quickly closing down the […]

2011 Holiday Survival Kit

Above: Photos of Real Life NJI Media Holiday Survival Kits In Action It’s a well-known fact that we love the holiday season at NJI Media. So much so that this year, we thought long and hard about how to improve the holiday season; let’s face it, not everyone enjoys fruitcake and caroling and Bing Crosby on repeat for nine hours and cheesy Christmas movies and airport security lines and their in-laws’ bad cooking. With that in mind, we set out to improve the hardest parts of the holidays. Depending on the specific circumstances of your particular Holiday Emergency, the contents of […]

NJI Media Now Offering Limited Edition Birthday Cake Designs

We take a lot of things seriously at NJI Media: design, development, strategy, and birthdays. To celebrate Dave’s birthday, we created a truly unique, limited edition Facecake in his honor. Using photographs from his real life experiences, Dave’s Facecake has snapshots from the most exciting moments of his first 28 years on this earth: his trip to the moon, a visit to Jurassic Park, an afternoon at Stonehenge, and the time he battled a shark underwater (he won). Cheers to the 29th, Dave.

Clyde the Corgi No Longer Being Raised By Single Mother

We find reasons to celebrate as frequently as we can at the NJI Media headquarters. Successful site launches, clients making headlines, clinching new contracts — all valid excuses to pat ourselves on the back and pop the champagne. Last month, however, we had a real reason to break out the bubbly – two of our own tied the knot (to each other). Some of our team were on hand to wish Adam and Alissa the very best in their newly married life together. After a mini-honeymoon, we’re delighted to to have the happy couple back to work. We’re equally delighted […]

Story Partners Delivers the Goods [With Sprinkles on Top]

It’s Friday afternoon which can only mean our air conditioner is on the fritz. Again. With little to depend on to get it fixed — while we await our trusty AC repairmen — our fine friends at Story Partners dropped by with a long-promised treat. A few weeks back, Amos Snead of Story Partners promised the NJI team an ice cream party after we helped them out on a client project.  Days later, the Story Partners team helped us out and asked whether or not they’d get ice cream in return. After weeks of trash talk over Twitter about who […]

Websites Taste Better With Beer

Especially if it’s home-brewed beer (courtesy of one of our Senior Developers). Pink pants mean summertime. And especially on a Friday afternoon. We started drinking at 10am but waited until now to post this. Pouring Rudolph’s Revenge, the latest Warehouse offering. Even Buddy likes an afternoon brew to start his weekend off properly.
