The Puppy Club at NJI Media

There are three main departments at the heart of NJI Media – strategy, design, and development. But there is one other division you may not know about – the canine branch. Our team is supported by their coworkers on everything from assembling banners to birthdays to setting font sizes. We listen, strategize, and celebrate our fellow NJI-ers achievements. The office’s dogs also support us, only they encourage us by engaging their tails in a vigorous wag. We recognize the importance of our four-legged friends, which is why all canines are welcomed to hang out at NJI Media while their owners are hard at […]

Building the Best of FamousDC

At NJI Media we build websites, manage social media campaigns and design everything from apps to print ads to the entire digital presence of a company. You’re here so you already knew that – but did you know we design and produce successful events? This month, we partnered with FamousDC to honor the best minds in political, digital strategy who may not already be picked up by presidential campaigns for the 2016 election. FamousDC envisioned this event as the last time these savvy people would be in the same room at the same time until after the election. Check out the awesome assets we created […]

Mobilegeddon and Other Updates From Google HQ

Google has a small mountain of updates and changes to its algorithm in play this month. If you have a website, you’re a designer or a developer, this applies to you. Mobile-Friendliness and Search Rankings The headline with the largest type size regards Google’s search algorithm and your site’s mobile friendliness. Google has been warning the public for months now about this change, but now “Mobilegeddon” has descended on the web. On mobile search, Google will put those sites that have a mobile responsive or mobile friendly sites first in search results over those that do not. This is great news […]

NJI Launches Redesigned

The American International Automobile Dealers Association is the only group representing international nameplate auto dealers in D.C. They wanted their website to look and feel as updated as the newest international vehicle models that the members they represented were promoting, so they approached NJI Media to redesign their website. We were excited to work with AIADA. Our design team enjoyed making connections to the automotive world using subtle design elements, like forward-leaning buttons and a deep color scheme. And sometimes, they used not-so-subtle design elements, like these cars featured on their About page timeline. AIADA’s website is one of their most important tools, and each […]

NJI Media Welcomes its Youngest-Ever Team Member

NJI Media President Josh Shultz – and, more importantly, his wife Robin – welcomed the newest member of the NJI team to the world on Tuesday, December 9th at 10:33AM.  Camden Danielle, named for her late grandfather Dan Shultz, weighed in a 7 pounds, 6 ounces. Big sister Natalie Baker is over the moon to have a slave baby sister to torture play with! Given her namesake and DNA, we can all look forward to Camden having killer jokes, awesome dance moves, and making a mean margarita. The NJI team celebrated Camden’s arrival with a sparkling birthday cake at our […]

This Post Likely Won’t Get Clicks on Facebook

Back in June, Facebook officially let us know organic reach for brands was declining. Six months later, the algorithmic transformation is now complete. What does this mean for your brand’s promotional posts? What can we post? Let’s take a look at what content Facebook is actively not showing. In its latest update, Facebook defined an “overly” promotional post by a Page as: •     “Posts that solely push people to buy a product or install an app” •     “Posts that push people to enter promotions and sweepstakes with no real context” •     “Posts that reuse the exact same content from […]

Second Annual Speakeasy a Success

We were overwhelmed by the love from our clients, friends, colleagues and family who came out to our second-annual Speakeasy Party. We’re so thankful for clients we work with every day, friends and family who support us, and our colleagues who get through it all with us. What better reason to restock our hooch bar and drink with them all? A little bit of the magic from Thursday night was captured in photos – 227 of them to be exact. Check out a select few below, and a link to the full photos at the end of this post.          Click here […]

NJI Media: Cat’s Pajamas, Bee’s Knees, & One of the Coolest Companies in DC

No big deal or anything, but we were just named one of the coolest companies in DC by InTheCapital, and for good reason: we’re awesome. But, don’t take our word for it, or a respected media outlet’s word for that matter. Explore what else makes us so cool below. Exhibit A: Mascot Our mascot is a punchy panda, whose personality has recently been revealed to be a little saucy. Exhibit B: Adventures We go bowling. We play laser tag. We drive on grand prix go-kart tracks. We adventure hard. Exhibit C: Office space Not only are we located in historic downtown Alexandria, we have a big blue […]

Our Newest Star Map: Smashing Conference

Last month’s Smashing Conference made a lasting impression on myself and my fellow project manager, Ida Rosenthal. We learned many, many, many things. Many different things. In an attempt to map them out into actionable lessons, we created a star map of sorts. Below are four big, star takeaways that make up the constellation of lessons NJI Media learned at Smashing Conf NYC 2014. 1 – Clients are People Too  “Be as curious about your clients as you are about your users.” –Jesse James Garrett, Adaptive Path Throughout the conference, we heard it often repeated that we’ll forget that clients […]
