Yesterday was a sad one in the Warehouse, for this weekend marks the 40th birthday of one D. Archibald Smart [NJI, VP of Interactive]. In commemoration of the event, we decided to have a funeral for Archie’s youth. We mourned the loss of his inability to return emails, show up on time, and get through the day without assuring someone he could “Do it live!” For those unable (or unwilling, really) to attend, we offer these photos as a placeholder.
The conference room served as the chapel for the proceedings and obligatory pizza wake that followed. (Photo courtesy of the Smart estate.)
Nathan welcomed everyone to the ceremony and asked all to bow their heads in a moment of silent memoriam for Archie’s youth. Goodbye to ludicrous facial hair, staying out far too late, and threatening to lick walls.
None of us could help but weep; don’t mind the ghost [Archie sighting in blue jeans and blue shirt on left].
Josh eulogized the deceased in a typical brash, if moving, Shultzian way.
Goodbye, old friend. [Emphasis on “old.”]
In additional to the funeral, the office equipped Archie with tools to tackle the twilight of his life: Fixodent, a cane, and adult diapers.
