Our Chief Panda Officer, always near the genesis of an inspired idea (or cocktail), often recalls Marcel Proust’s wit for answering Victorian parlor game questions. Pixel has traveled far from the salons of Paris, but her interest remains piqued in which questions truly reflect a person’s character. Packing just the right amount of punch, NJI created The Pixel Questionnaire to give a glimpse into the inner workings of some of our most intriguing minds.

Pixel recently flew to Singapore to grab a bite with NJI’s creative queen, and settle the longstanding debate on what came first – the chicken or the egg.

If you had a superpower?

Mind Control.

On what occasions do you lie?

I admit to the occasional fib when answering questionnaires.

Your most treasured possession?

My teddy bear, Druslie. He is missing one eye and a nose. I love him.

What would you do if you got stuck in an elevator?

Panic, come to my senses, call for help, and go right back to panicking.

If not yourself, who would you be?

If I were to shake off all that I am, what would remain?

What is your favorite drink?

Yakult.

If you could go back in time, where would you go?

The exact time the first chicken and the first egg appeared — it’s time to settle what came first once and for all.

If a movie were made about your career, what would be the title?

“The Girl with the Bad Posture”.

Garden gnomes — what do you think?

I have a really cool little guy in my Animal Crossing garden. Please look up ‘Rebel Gnome.’

You’ve been given an elephant. What do you do?

I’ll give the elephant to a sanctuary so it can live the best life it possibly can. Be free, my friend.

What one object do you take with you on a desert island?

Is there a ‘Building a Shelter for Dummies’ guide? Because I will need that.

What was the last gift you got someone?

It was a drawing of my friend’s cat. I do little drawings for my friends quite often, but I remember worrying over this one — pets can be really tricky to draw. Luckily, his family loved it, and the cat is also very accepting of any lapses in his likeness.

If you could breed two animals together, what would they be?

I don’t know about mixing animals, so please accept my thoughts on rats instead. I think they’re adorable and perfectly shaped.

If you could eat one food for the rest of your life, what would it be?

Rice.

Do you have any superstitions?

It’s a bit strange to call them superstitions, because I grew up with these ideas and think they make perfect sense — for example, why would one sleep facing a mirror?

What is something you hate but wish you loved?

Exercise! It feels like a huge chore no matter what I do. I feel great afterwards, but I simply dread it.

What is something you get wrong every time you try?

Finding a place without Google Maps. It doesn’t matter how many times I’ve been there. I was born with my compass pointing the opposite way.

Who would you like to sit next to on a 10-hour flight?

A very generous, thoughtful and kind person with a portable charger, because knowing me, my phone is at 13% tops.

If you joined the circus, what would your circus act be?

(Putting on a red nose) I am the whole circus.

If you could jump into a pool of something, what would it be?

Yakult.

If you could talk to one species of animal, which one would it be?

Definitely dogs. I want to show mine memes and be like ‘aha this is you’ and they can be like ‘totally lol’ and we can have a good laugh together.

Who inspires you?

People who stand up for what they believe in and speak up about things they care deeply about. I read heavily because I wish to be able to do such things one day.

What’s the greatest length you’ve gone to for a client?

I was on holiday with friends, and my client urgently needed a piece of artwork. So I wound up touring during the day and working through the nights to get that done. They loved the work, but never again.

If NJI were a television show or movie, what would it be?

That one episode of iCarly where Spencer walks in with an ostrich and a smoothie and Carly’s like ‘um whatcha got there?’ and he goes ‘a smoothie?’

Who will Pixel interview next? The subject is yet to be revealed, but your patience will be rewarded. She always has the most unexpected ideas
