What We’re Thankful For: NJI Edition

Being new to NJI Media, I learned very quickly that this team appreciates their colleagues and knows how to treat them well. Upon walking into the office on my first day, I initially took an official tour of the Warehouse. Sorry, let me rephrase that, I first took the tour of the kitchen. NJI loves their treats. There is not one, but three of those oh-so essential appliances we call coffee makers, and shelves of snacks and candy. Now that Thanksgiving is upon us, it’s easy to consider how thankful we are for good food and drink, but 2014 gave us so much more to be thankful for.

I should introduce myself. I’m Katie Miller, and I’m a new Project Manager here at NJI. It’s so nice to meet you. I, personally, am very thankful for Instagram, burritos and puppies (videos, photos, and the real thing). So, what has everyone been #hashtagging lately? ‘Tis the season to reminisce upon the trending topics we are most thankful for from this past year.

Here’s a sampling of what we are grateful for this year.

1. Taylor Swift.

This is a safe space to admit it. You unabashedly love Shake It Off, and what’s more, is that you probably didn’t tell anyone that you have 1989 in your iTunes. You can’t help but say to yourself “DANG, this is catchy!” The girl can write a good song, and we’re thankful to have Taylor in our lives this year.

2. Comet Landings.

You don’t have to be a rocket scientist to know that landing on a comet is ridiculous and remarkable. It’s a rock moving through space. I think that’s all that needs to be said about that. Thank you, science!

3. Bacon.

Bacon had a great year. This year, we learned we could weave bacon into a basket in order to put more delicious food in it. Also, who knew bacon was such an amazing addition to dessert? Take a look at this article for ideas. We appreciate you, bacon.

4. Flannel.

On any given day at NJI, there’s a good chance that at least half the team is wearing flannel. When it’s cold outside, flannel is there to keep us warm. It’s also pretty comfortable and we like that. So many patterns and color options give us the opportunity to express ourselves through flannel, and for that, we are grateful.

5. Emojis.

We love emojis and all that they are able to convey when words just aren’t enough. Never has there been a situation when you couldn’t throw in a tiny picture or cartoon face to illustrate just how you’re feeling. It’s safe to say that emojis have taken the world over, and we are thankful.

6. Technology.

We are self-aware in our obsession with all things digital. From Twitter to MailChimp, our jobs rely on them. This year, we are thankful to provide our clients with the digital resources we hold so near and dear to our hearts. And computers.

Honorable mentions include but are not limited to:

◦ Gently-used hooded sweatshirts
◦ Amazon Prime 2-day shipping
◦ The United States of America
