Design a website to advance life-saving cancer research
Our team led a thorough discovery process in which we interviewed key stakeholders, analyzed website performance, conducted a competitive analysis, and researched Friends' audiences. It became clear that to create a successful digital presence, we needed to balance the academic foundation of Friends' research and policy initiatives with their patient-focused mindset and energetic drive for better cancer treatments.

Our primary objective was to bring the stories of Friends' work to life. The organization serves diverse communities, so we focused on imagery that reflects these varied interests. Web-friendly font pairings and an updated color palette align the organization’s visual identity with core characteristics of its brand: dynamic, leading-edge, patient-focused, trusted.
We reimagined the homepage to create a more engaging user experience, driven by imagery and concise, memorable highlights. To increase functionality, we upgraded the core system from Drupal 7 to Drupal 8 and built custom tools to facilitate content upload, making it easier for website admins to post important information quickly.
The new digital presence positions Friends to better serve the cancer research community and advance its mission to speed life-saving treatments to patients.
