Pride Month is a time of celebration, remembrance, and reflection for the LGBTQ+ community and its allies. It is an opportunity to recognize the progress that has been made and recommit ourselves to the ongoing struggle for equality. As an LGBTQ-owned agency, we are proud to celebrate Pride across our global offices.
Earlier this week, NJI held a virtual Pride Trivia activity to test our crew’s knowledge of LGBTQ+ culture and history. Senior Graphic Designer Glen Swart and Graphic Designer Bebhinne Jennings led the company on a walk through Queer history with topics ranging from symbolism and terminology to drag and pop culture.
“This can often be a really heavy subject, so in addition to touching on the hardships the LGBTQ+ community continues to face, we kept it light and informative, with fun facts and resources for additional information and helplines,” said Swart. Over 30 colleagues from Singapore, London, and the US joined the event.
In addition, NJI’s DC office hosted a Pride Summer BBQ to come together and demonstrate our unwavering support of the LGBTQ+ community. Colleagues gathered for a colorful evening of rainbow cocktails, delicious barbeque, and a bit of friendly competition in our cornhole tournament. Grand champions were awarded not only bragging rights, but the opportunity to make an even greater impact as we granted them $250 to donate to an LGBTQ+ charity of their choice — a gift that will be made under their names and on behalf of the entire NJI staff.
“Companies that celebrate pride celebrate the joy that comes from being our authentic selves,” shared Vincent Levin, Account Director and one of the event organizers. “This week’s events tapped into that joy, filling the office with laughter and cheer, and emphasizing the power of embracing community.”
Pride month holds profound significance at NJI as we embrace and amplify the voices of the LGBTQ+ community, reaffirming our commitment to inclusivity, diversity, and equality.
