NJI Celebrates 10 Million GIPHY Views

Our team is always eager to explore the latest trends in social media and identify new opportunities to engage and interact with our followers. GIPHY stickers are a perfect example of this. As GIPHY use steadily increased across platforms, our social team strategized on how we could harness that popularity to amplify NJI’s story. The result was a NJI sticker library with 35 designs, and over 10 million views! 

A true cross-team collaboration, our sticker collection aims to demonstrate the many talents of our agency, with each design offering an inside look into what inspires, excites, and motivates Team NJI. Ranging from our personal mascot, Pixel, to our favorite team emoji, the taco, each strategically designed sticker/GIF provides our followers with a better understanding of what enables us to continuously “challenge the status quo.”

This growing marketing trend has become a new avenue for brands and consumers alike. Stickers create a unique opportunity for brands to have a personal voice and equip consumers to market on their behalf. With the potential for stickers to become viral overnight, GIPHY provides a new cost-effective route for brands to communicate directly with their audience.


What is GIPHY?

Have you ever wondered how companies get stickers approved for social media platforms? Well GIPHY is the way to do it. GIPHY is a platform that animates the world through stickers, arcade, and video. It acts as an online database and search engine that enables users to upload designs, generate a profile, and search by keyword or tag.

More specifically, a GIPHY sticker is a GIF file with transparent edges. In order to register as a sticker, at least 20% of pixels must be transparent in the first frame. 

You can try your hand at creating stickers directly on GIPHY, using their Sticker Maker tool.

Where can I find NJI’s GIFs/stickers?

All of our available GIFs/stickers can be found directly on the GIPHY website by searching @njimedia. Once on our channel, you can browse all of our uploads and pick one to share to your social channels or friends. 

Instagram Story

In order to add a sticker to your Instagram story, simply prepare your story, and when on the story screen, click on the third icon that populates the stickers. If you would like to use our stickers, then type “NJI Media” within the search bar. Once you select a sticker, you can resize or move it around your screen to reach the desired look. Feel free to tag us @njimedia so we can see your stories!

Twitter Post

To add a GIF into a Twitter post, press the create new post button. From there you will click the square GIF icon. To populate our GIFs, type in “NJI Media” within the search bar. Browse the options and then pick your favorite!

Other than Instagram and Twitter, GIFs/stickers can be used on most social platforms like Facebook, Snapchat, and Slack – you can even embed them into an email!

Interested in setting up your own account?

First you’ll need to set-up a brand channel that enables your designs to get published on social media accounts for public use. Learn more about brand channels here.

  1. Set up a GIPHY channel to store and create GIFs
    • Use a business email domain to register.
    • This account will house your GIFs/stickers in a central place.
    • Allows you to share the links with your audience.
  2. Upload stickers to your account
    • Before you register for a brand channel, make sure to populate your account with 10-15 designs – this will better your chances of getting verified.
  3. Register for a branded account
    • Gives you acknowledgment by GIPHY that you are a verified company.
    • Creates the ability to add searchable GIFs to your account. This means that you – or anyone – can search your GIFs via social media. 
    • Allows you to track views and basic stats.
