The National Press Foundation recently launched a “Why Journalism Matters” Twitter contest. The contest encourages users to tweet messages about why journalism matters – “for democracy, for personal and social freedom, or for any other reason.”  NJI Media developed an interactive dashboard that showcases tweets using the #journalismmatters hashtag.  The dashboard highlights realtime contest participation around the world.

The dashboard will be featured at tonight’s 28th Annual National Press Foundation Awards Dinner, a yearly celebration of journalistic achievement. The Why Journalism Matters dashboard will be shown throughout the dinner as attendees – both at the event and those online – tweet contest entries.

NJI Media is a proud sponsor of tonight’s dinner and continued efforts that recognize the growing use of digital technology in journalism
