While this can be a daunting time full of uncertainty, our design team wanted to showcase how we, as a business, team members, and individuals at NJI, face adversity by always finding a silver lining. Therefore each designer has created an individual composition highlighting various silver linings they themself, or fellow coworkers at NJI have discovered while staying home amid the COVID-19 crisis.

“I’ve had more quality time to spend with my roommate.”
— Jessie Noble, Senior Designer

Being stuck inside is a bore, but using this time to do the things you, your roommate and loved ones enjoying doing together is not. Jessie decided to illustrate how she has made the most of this time with her roommate.

“A month ago we lived in communities, alone; now we are beginning to live alone, but in community.”
— Jenna Patrick, Graphic Designer

Being apart from people does not mean we are necessarily alone. Jenna beautifully interpreted this idea into her thought-provoking and visually interesting composition.

“Happy hour starts at 3 o’clock.”
— Hope Trujillo, Graphic Designer

“It’s 5 o’clock somewhere”… or at least that’s what the saying used to say. Thankfully Hope has updated this saying with a more appropriate start time. During the time of a pandemic, who’s to judge?

“I’ve had time to explore and admire my neighborhood.”
— Charlotte Nasworthy, Graphic Designer

A simple walk around outside has become an integral part of daily life for many of us. After being inspired by the beautiful architecture around DC’s Capitol Hill, Charlotte demonstrates that sometimes all it takes is walking around and observing the world around you to find beauty.

“I’ve been able to save time and gas by not having to commute.”
— Sarah Ficarro, Graphic Designer

While working in the office has its perks, Sarah has found that saving 2+ hours driving and the gas it takes to commute doesn’t hurt either. It’s good for the planet too!
