Where we’re going, we don’t need chairs!

Humans spend a lot of time sitting around. We sit down to do so much in our daily lives. Have you ever thought about what we’d do without chairs?

Amazingly, studies have shown that sitting can do major harm to your body than smoking! Sitting too much causes your support muscles to become inactive and thus are unable to move around your body and do its job of fighting body crime. Furthermore, the article points out that regular exercise doesn’t necessarily reverse the hours a person has spent sitting down.

A solution to sitting all day is taking breaks during your workday. As Hannah Newman from Quartz says, “The average length of their breaks: just four and a half minutes. Taking a 4½-minute break each hour can reverse the side effects of sitting. Taking a break would also allow your eyes to rest from staring the computer.

Here at NJI Media, we are taking steps help combat this health issue starting with the Partners. Since the beginning of the year, also known as Hurry up and Start your New Year’s Resolution. The partners replaced their handcrafted Parson desk with rustic-style stand up desks. To top that off, they also ordered exercise equipment tailored to their individual styles.

  • Josh chose a bike desk; he’s training for the Tour De France2014-07-10-at-16-05-06-3
  • Ryan chose a trampoline, to jump those lines at Chipotle.2014-07-10-at-16-13-57-5

Here at NJI Media, we encourage everyone to get a stand up desk or take a mini break each hour. Show your boss this blog post as evidence needed for a stand up desk.
