The Pixel Questionnaire: Sherry Tsang

Our Chief Panda Officer, always near the genesis of an inspired idea (or cocktail), often recalls Marcel Proust’s wit for answering Victorian parlor game questions. Pixel has traveled far from the salons of Paris, but her interest remains piqued in which questions truly reflect a person’s character. Packing just the right amount of punch, NJI created The Pixel Questionnaire to give a glimpse into the inner workings of some of our most intriguing minds.

Pixel recently sat down with Senior Designer Sherry Tsang to discuss navigation strategies and challenges of Google Maps. After reaching a quaint Boba Tea Cafe, the two got lost in conversation about what drives the passion of this creative professional panda.

If you had a superpower?

100% teleportation but through a portal. I want to snap my fingers after thinking of the place. A portal opens up and I walk through a cool glowy portal. Very useful as I could get lost even using the Maps app.

On what occasions do you lie?

I don’t partake? 😬

Your most treasured possession?

Unfortunately, my phone. 

What would you do if you got stuck in an elevator? 

Totally have been in this situation. I was a bit panicked, especially with my dad and brother jumping to try to make the elevator move again, but immediately called 911.

What is your favorite drink? 

Boba tea!🧋

If not yourself, who would you be?

Gemma Chan, she has impeccable style.

If you could go back in time, where would you go?

Back to when dinosaurs existed, but only if I had a protective bubble around me just in case.

If a movie were made about your career, what would be the title? 

The Mind of a Nightowl.

Garden gnomes — what do you think? 

I would say no…

You’ve been given an elephant. What do you do? 

Ask why I was given a big animal, and release it into the wild.

What one object do you take with you on a desert island (you have water and food already)? 

My royal therapy pillow.

What was the last gift you got someone? 

A new fridge.

What is your most unusual talent? 

I can talk in a Stitch voice.

If you could breed two animals together, what would they be? 

Dragon and mermaid. A fire-breathing mermaid with wings and can swim underwater.

If you could eat one food for the rest of your life, what would it be? 

Noodles.

Do you have any superstitions? 

Yes, most of them are for Lunar New Year celebrations. I have to do all the traditions to make sure my family and I have a good year. I’ve done these traditions since I was little.

What is something you hate but wish you loved? 

Working out for sure.

What is something you get wrong every time you try? 

Walking to a new location using Google Maps, I can never either read it right or I feel like I’m going down the wrong direction, then second guess myself and walk the other way, only to find out I was going the right way the first time. 🤦‍♀️

Who would you like to sit next to on a 10 hour flight?

Pedro Pascal.

If you could jump into a pool of something, what would it be? 

Greek yogurt, I heard it’s great for your skin.

If you could talk to one animal species, which one would it be? 

Dogs for sure, I bet they have all kinds of tea from their owners.

Who inspires you? 

So many people!

What’s the greatest length you’ve gone to for a client? 

A urgent last minute request came in late in the night, so I worked till midnight and then slept for 4 hours then got up early to finish up.

Brooklyn Nine-Nine.
